ABOUT
I offer my clients over 20 years of design experience, a high level of professionalism and a genuine love of making things. I create designs that have an impact and get your message across.
For the past 15 years I’ve specialized in public affairs and have extensive experience communicating important employment, technology, health and education issues to large audiences. I’ve also become very adept at reaching voters with visual messages.
Prior to studying design, I worked as a book publicist and a magazine editor. My design career began in the ’90s providing graphic support to investment bankers. I moved into politics after managing a small design team at a market research firm.
I worked in Ontario politics for 9 years, and was promoted to Creative Director in 2007. In this role I created anything and everything the organization needed—from business cards to buses to massive ad buys. I frequently worked on French or bilingual pieces, as well as most of the other languages spoken in Ontario.
I’m an accredited RGD with the Association of Registered Graphic Designers. I hold an MA in English Literature from the University of Toronto and I studied graphic design at the Ontario College of Art & Design.
I am also an artist. Visit Lindsay Smail Art to view recent work or shop in my online store.
